Hey There is a pop-rock track with a guitar riff and hard-hitting drums rocking the imperfect beauty of human beings. The Wandering Off creates an atmospheric feel, with the instrumentals creating a layer of calming comfort over the exciting positive vibes given by the hazy tone of Emily Corner’s husky and soft voice, emitting girl-next-door vibes. She sings, “Can’t please ‘em all/ Cuz when you jump, you fall,” relating to trying too hard and taking too many steps at a time.
“Hey There” is a charming and heartfelt indie-folk song that has a dreamy and relaxed feel to it. The Wandering Off’s simple but effective instrumental arrangement, featuring The finger-picking guitar style and subtle use of effects such as reverb and delay, creates a warm and organic sound that is easy to listen to.
The track emanates the customary 90s grungy rock that has been back in style for a while now. But The Wandering Off does it differently with the acoustic guitar, drums, bass, and atmospheric sound effects, providing a gentle and soothing backdrop for the smooth and laid-back vocals.
Emily’s vocals have a unique tone to them as she rhymes “Carry” with “Can’t” at the beginning of two consecutive lines in the chorus. She sleekly sings through the verses without stressing on any syllable, making it sound effortless. And what we receive is a comfortable listening experience beside the atmospheric guitars and thunderous drums, manifesting good vibes and motivating us to move forward beyond the mundane.
